I Have not installed the last update yet, but, if battery life were to improve as much as people say with every update, people would only have to charge their iPhones once a month...

There's no special TP --> HDMI, because there's no need for one. You can plug in Mini DP into TP and it will work. In fact the port has separate channel for video, so your monitor doesn't compete for bandwidth with anything else.

ahhh, are you telling me that all I need is a displayPort to HDMI cable? That's good! Thanks.

What could I have done differently to achieve better scale?

    You do it here http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=282021&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1303178540

In this picture the mountain looks a lot bigger and the eye is drawn to it like your going along a path to its base.

Looks decent. Can't wait till you get more photos up. Maybe even a video review would be awesome. The depending factor for me is how bulky it is.

If think if you hold down a button (either esc, shift, control, option or command:D) when you select shut down it wont come up. I dont remember which button it is and dont really want to experiment;)

I'd definitely go for the lighter model. Of course you're going to have to factor in costs but if they are the same price you should definitely get the lighter one.

I have a BlackBook and although i don't really mind the weight, it gets tiresome carrying that along with stuff for school when I'm constantly walking long distances. A new backpack will probably remedy the problem though :)

i think the biggest hurdle to leap over to run panther, are the graphic card limitations of the older machines. stuff like the cube user switching and expose are going to be cpu and graphic card intensive. do you think those older machines would be able to handle those?

I did but sorta regret it ... it's not SO unstable that it's unusable, but some features such as no Rosetta and the few bugs that make it annoying to use, do make me regret upgrading. Thankfully updates are coming regularly so things are only improving, and I dual-boot into W7 whenever something needs to get done bug-free.

    Actually,

    /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_22-b04-307.jdk/Contents/Home/src.jar

I couldn't navigate to this location in Eclipse for the source attachment path, but nevertheless it works.

General Sentiment is part of an elite team of Mercenary Ex-Servicemen who reside in the shadows of the Los Angeles Underground. The full contingent is:

General Sentiment (Responsible for monitoring morale)
    Major Improvement (Morale Uplifts)
    Admiral Butterfly (Aesthetics)
Corporal Punishment (Deals with those who lower morale)
Private Practice (deals with those unfortunate enough to have faced Corporal Punishment)
    and finally...
Seaman Staines (added to the team only to provide Murdock-style comedy value at the end of each scene).

I'm shocked you have forgotten Colonel Panic, who has been known to stop computers dead with his amazing multi-lingual skills.

GeOW is miserable for me single player...can't rely on computer intelligence and love having a friend to coordinate with. Some games I buy specifically for gameplay for me (obviously DS titles, etc). Some games I buy specifically because of coop with friends...like Fifa, Winning 11, etc. Rainbow 6 Vegas I bought just for live and to play with some friends back in the states...so it really just boils down to the game.

That said sometimes the coop can be an amazing value I wouldn't have thought of at first. Take GeOW...thought I'd be playing that by myself...turns out it's great for two. I love the added coop fun on Kameo..wouldn't have thought it'd be that way. Also Crackdown is a blast with coop, but wish it allowed two player in the house as well....

Yeah there is a major problem with backlit wireless keyboards: The batteries aren't going to last for months anymore, are they? Where is all that power for the lights going to come from?

Since when do they last months!?

I would love a backlit keyboard! Laser cut aluminium keys with 16.5 million colour LEDs please :D

Inspired by a user's thread who is unhappy with the way their KB backlight works (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1130722), I decided to play with the Ambient Light Sensor and KB backlight on my MBP.

I was a bit disappointed to see that unlike under W7 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd318953(v=vs.85).aspx)there is no official API to access the sensor data. Really?

Anyhow, I quickly found this code: http://osxbook.com/book/bonus/chapter10/light/ and various comments around that it doesn't work anymore. A bit more digging led to this code: http://google-mac-qtz-patches.googlecode.com/svn-history/r5/trunk/AmbientLightSensor which does actually work and allowed me to whip this up.

A few reasons for the post:

There's no difference between these two bits of code in "calling it directly". Both syntaxes are directly calling the function. Do you understand how return values work?

All l'm saying is it didn't work.

    I'm stuck.

Can I use my MBP as a pillow, technically speaking? It is safe to sleep on it? I want to use it till its warm then use it to keep me warm. I have access to an outlet.

    I'm serious.

I have never used a Samsung drive, nor do I know anybody who has. Do they actually make their own? Or do they get drives relabeled from another company?

I have a P80. They make their own drives and have very nice tech. But they only make smaller drives with up to 2 platters (P120 has 125GB per platter).

Yes but i want it to work so bad  There has to be someway to make it work and my digital camera has an mpeg record function.

Help i paid $300 bucks for this camrea i doont want to have to spend on isight

You might also try the free osx usb webcam driver. There is a list of supported cams hereclick here (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/)

Hope this helps. Worse comes to worse, you can probably get into a cheap usb cam for about 20-30 $$.

OK all you Tokyo-ites, how about a gathering at the Ginza Apple Store.

If Leopard is to be released at 6.00 pm here I will definitely be there at 6.00!

I'll be the Australian in a suit with a little MacRumors flag, kind of like the flags you see Japanese tour groups following around.

I kid, don't want to embarrass myself too much. If there are others interested let's talk meet strategy!

    Cheers

Clearly ISO (a measure of film sensitivity), although conceptually similar, is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to digital. Wouldn't a more appropriate term be something like "Gain Factor"?

I would think this would be an easier concept to grasp for newcomers to DSLRs, especially when trying to understand the trade-off between gain and noise.

How can you tell I'm bored today... :)

hi i have an ipod touch 4 JB on 4.1 i was just wondering that is there a way to put songs in to the ipod without connecting to itunes

and also any app for bluetooth transfer

Well, MewSeek is like limewire and, if you get the paid version, you can add songs to the ipod/music app. And Wifi sync lets you do just that, sync over wifi (but sadly not bluetooth)
