Unless you're feeling seriously hampered by your set of lenses right now, and you're planning on spending some dollars on new lenses, I'd stick with what you have at the moment, and only upgrade when you actually see a need to do so, rather than "better do it before it's too late".
Yes, if you have advanced plans on buying more lenses, then I would consider upgrading the camera as well - before you have such a huge collection that you can't feasibly afford to change brands.
I would also very seriously consider the fact that Canon has undeniably the best select of lenses, and most people (except some Nikon fanatics) would probably also agree that the Canon lenses are optically better than the Nikon equivalents [although there are many factors here, some of which are based on personal experience, some are probably depending on whether you get a "good copy" or "bad copy", etc, etc].
Flash memory (SD or CF) isn't very expensive these days, so unless you have several gigabytes of it, you probably need not really worry about that so much when it comes to choosing your next generation camera.
I have to admit, however, that the Nikon D80 has a very tempting price and feature combination. I'm sure it's a really good camera.
Finally, although I'm somewhat of a Canon fan, my latest camera purchase was a Nikon - a small Coolpix 7600 so that me and my wife can carry an unobtrusive camera when need be. Carrying a EOS 10D around is a little bit more noticable...

Today my attorney filed my 485 with e-reciept of 140. My employer told that they didnt recieved reciept notice by mail so My attorney used 140 e-reciept for 485 filing.

Even though the immigration is the highest priority for all of us on this web site, that is not the same with Mr. President elect. He has to take care of other pressing issues like economy, Iraq war etc. first.
Therefore, I don't think it would be worthwhile to spend our resources for at least 6 more months. Once he settles down in the office and other things start moving, we can try at that time.

If she can come back before 1st Oct( i believe her employment will start from Oct 1st) , she should be OK as H1 status will be valid only from Oct 1 2008 onwards.

She has to travel back to india for a month from (Sep 08 - Mid Oct08). I am concerned about the issues/status when she enters back in USA. Her H4 is valid till Sep-2009.
1) Can she go back on H4 visa and return back with the same H4 visa. Will she be having any issues at the Immigartion officer at port of entry. If so, what type of questions she has to face?
2)After coming back, will her H1 have any issues ?
What would be the best thing to do .. I am really worried about this status issues.

My dad had GC in 70s, he came and went back to India to pursue a lucarative job.
He is currently here on a visitor's visa and during the visa interview at Chennai, he showed his expired green card - and they confiscated it (after 30+ years of expiry)and gave him a tourist visa.

I got my FP notice (Code 3) and got the FP notice stamped in FEB 2008
The stamp reads
Biometrics Processing Stamp
ASC Side Code: __________XTE<location>
Biometrics QA Review by ________ (officer's signature)
Tenprints QA Reivew (officer's signature)
Does this mean that I have security clearance ?
Basically, what does the stamping mean ?

Receipt notice not sure how long. I have not yet got it.
Approval notice has already come via mail in 7 days precise after status approved.
Again this is PP. So may be for PP it is only e-receipt and not actual receipt.

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to get my SSN Done. I'm on a dependent H4 Visa and have my H1 approval .
I visited the SSN office with My I797, State ID and Passport : SSN officer straightforwardly rejected as I dont have my EAD card.
The Officer asked me to visit USCIS office to apply for EAD.
Please help me with this situation..Does a H1 get an EAD and then a SSN?

Sounds like someone at SSN office who may not know much about immigration.
If your I 797 came with attached I94, then you certainly can apply for SSN card. Just ask for supervisor at the SS office and talk to them.
If your I 797 does not have attached I 94 (meaning that you are still in H4 status), then I do not know for sure what the procedure would be to apply for SS card.

B-1 is a visitor's visa with no immigration intent. H1-B is dual intent. This needs to be figured out on a case-ta-case basis by an experienced attorney.

Your Lawyer is correct:
As you left your employer in less than 180days from filing 485, you can not invoke AC21.
The only way for you to save this GC is to have intention (both, you and your employer) to have permanent job after GC and you and your employer should be able to confirm that in the event of an RFE.
Furthermore, if there is no RFE and your employer does note revoke I 140; and your GC get approved; you will have to start working with your employer (duration of such employment is never clarified in law; search the forum for details). If you dont do so, you may have trouble later on (CIS can revoke GC or you can be denied citizenship with revocation of GC several years later...).
Therefore, it may be a good idea to start another GC ASAP (if your current employer really does not want to hire you once GC is approved) and have another status as a backup to fall on to just in case your employer revokes I 140 (which he ideally should if he is not intending to hire you after the GC is approved).
Good Luck.

SKIL exempts applicants with a masters degree from the US and 3 years experience from the annual quotas. This along with not counting dependents should bring considerable relief to even the folks who are still subject to quota.
