I think more members will join and people will be willing to contribute more if they see positive things happening. Right now we seem to be going no where. Even if a basic thing like filing for 485 during retrogression gets passed, people will gain confidence in IV and they will be willing to contribute money.

"01/14/2007: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Legislation Likely Timeline
Report indicates that the House and Senate special panel has been working hard to work out the new Comprehensive Immigration Reform Legislative bill. As everyone knows, this panel is led by Sen. McCain and S. Kenndy on the Senate side. It appears that the panel is targeting at introducing the bill first by March and pushing to pass the Senate by April, and the House then takes over the Senate passed bill and attempts to pass it quickly. We will have to wait and see whether or not this scenario will work as planned, but because of the changed political landscape, it is general opinion and concensus in the media and political circles that unlike the tragic experiences in the past few years, it will have a much better chance to make it this time on. If it fails to make it through as scheduled, the chance of the bill will turn slimmer because of the emerging 2008 national election politics and heat of passions involving politics. The AgJOBS bill which will legalize approximately 1.5 million farm workers on H-2A visa status currently receives a very strong support from legislators in both sides of the aisle, even though there is some difference between the White House and the Congress when it comes to the details. It is unknown whether this bill will eventually turn into a part of the CIR. AgJOBS bill is already nicknamed "Temporary Guest Worker" bill!
As for the Appropriation bills for the federal departments other than Defense and DHS, since Continuing Resolution to temporarily fund these departments will expire on February 15, 2007, there is expected some legislative activity to pass some of the minor immigration bills including H-1B reform as part of the appropriation legislative process. Today I received denial notice from USCIS. The reason for denial is that "THE RFE RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED LATELY, HENCE DENIED". The last date for reception of RFE response was on 22nd March 2009 & They claim that they received it on 23rd March 2009. 22nd March was Sunday & more over we have proof from FEDEX deliver report that it was delivered by morning 10:30 AM on 20th March 2009.
I believe this is error from USCIS. My attorney did call Customer Care and spoke to them & they said to send letter with proof, they will forward it to USCIS & they said there is no guarantee that they will again open the case by themselves.
We did immediately sent letter with proof of FEDEX delivery report and as well as RESPONSE to RFE & we made sure that it will be delivered by monday April 6th 2009.
My attorney suggested the following:
We will wait atleast 2 weeks for to see whether they consider their mistake and open the case or ask us to open MTR with immediate effect
IF they don't in two weeks, we will appeal for the denial
Once MTR/appeal is open, we can prove it's their mistake & there is always good chance
Once the status changes to MTR/appeal, then you can either apply for fresh H1B from other employer on premium process or live to your country it's your choice.
Now my question to you all is, whatever he is saying is this correct? I am worried about becoming illegal. I don't WANT TO BE HERE ILLEGALLY. I WOULD RATHER GO BACK TO MY COUNTRY THAN BEING HERE ILLEGALLY & FACE PROBLEMS.. PLEASE DO GUIDE ME

If I were you, I'll follow it closely. Don't rely on your employer and lawyer. I have a friend in Atlanta whose case was closed accidentally. He waited for a year to follow-up with his employer and lawyer only to find out that BEC closed the case because they claim that they never received any response for the 45-day letter. His H1 was also getting close to teh 6 yr. limit.

I'm confused - Everyone who has a 140 is supposed to have a Labor and very likely that will be more than 365 days old. So why do anyone need 140 approval in that sense ?
The reason i'm getting nuts for 140 approval because i can't safely switch to a EAD or get a Longer duration H1B ( 3 yrs after 140 approval). I'm in major Limbo with some other folks at NSC for last 13 months just for a EB3(140) - My friends got approval in 6-8 months from TSC or if its a EB2(140) at Nebraska.
See my other post asking ideas to break this stalemate.

We are most fortunate, thanks to Mr. Bill Gates, Rep Smith's current bill will triple our h1b cap and it will pass. all 3 american candidates support us. we are winning:D:D:D
I remember this bill being brought up last year also and was "supposed" to be passed but never even came up for voting...why do u anticipate this will go through this time? My wife is applying for her "H1B" and she is awaiting the lotto results...
I strongly disapprove of ppl waiting for their GC voicing against H1B cap increase because they have crossed that bridge and have H1B. I am only safely assume such ppl will voice against IV and all IV activities once they receive their GC...
