Oh please don't be so smart. What you say means to lose the pixel density of Retina Display. Would you want that?
Jobs indicated that the "magic number" for a retina display was around 300 dpi. A 640x960 3.7" display would still be greater than 300 dpi, so they'd likely still use the marketing term and we, the users, likely wouldn't notice the difference.
A slight reduction in pixel density doesn't mean the display suddenly becomes garbage.

Edit: To fix the boxes around the images in IE just use a little CSS

That should solve your woes there. IE likes to default the CSS border on images to visitable.

True but that's a very very very early build; not even a win8 build; looks like Windows 7 SP.
I think we should wait for a while to see what win8 brings to us.

This is a great idea for those that would like this option. MR rocks as always!
Me though, I prefer the frequent frantic checks to the site as I try to get all my 'real work' done at the office.
One year everyone was going out to lunch and I lied and said I had too much work to do...just so I could eat at my desk and get all the late-breaking news. My co-workers would think I was weird if I said why I really wasn't going...

On one of the first pages they have a diagram of how to hold the phone so as not to lose as much reception. I have already used 220GB on music / movie / photo

Good point. I was a cashier at Powell's Books many years ago. If my till had been that much short I would have been out on my rear end before the day was over.

i was running around 90C. i've now taken it down to just 3.9 ghz. it's still up close to around 85C. i really don't feel like messing with water cooling on this system. maybe next time
fair call, added power, costs, fuss etcetc. not worth it i guess

this is really the start of good things for apple.
if they really want to get more marketshare. Introduce more models.
ie
1- a midsized tower. to offer more power and upgradability than iMac or mac mini, and less than Mac Pro. This is part of reason why less desktop models are being sold than laptops.
2- Slim Macbook
3- iPhone (ipod phone/pda)
4- Embrace HDTV with new lines of HDTV compliant monitors (HDCP) and blu-ray or hd dvd & add hdcp compliant videocards also. Also sell HD content via itunes.

You get trials. Not actual copies, unless you pay for the license.

For the anti-virus, yes, for office no you get the complete version, as well as MS live.
Depending on where you buy, you actually can get more "full" versions of applications then you do with a mac. I'm not knocking apple or iLife, they're great apps, but you cannot say that a new PC is unusable until you download a lot of apps and such. Dell, HP, etc all come with office and/or other apps. Yeah there's crapware installed and I won't dispute that, but you also get full version apps

I don't understand why the register even opened if the transaction was not complete. If the kid rang up the Ipad at $499 the plus the applicable state tax, you gave him the cash on hand, the register still should have required the balance from the credit card? The register in my opinion should not have even opened up? Much less print a receipt saying the full price was paid?
The only way I can this happening is if the kid keyed in the exact amount of the purchase price as cash.

That is so crazy it's ridiculous. There is no evidence to support your statement. Mac OS X is not headed towards the "walled garden" universe that everyone seems to freak out over. Apple's just giving people who don't know anything about computers an easy way to purchase and find applications.
I do agree, however, that by not including applications outside of the Mac App Store Apple is diminishing the value of the award. I believe it is within their right to do so, although I don't like it.
Oh certainly they won't lock OSX down in the near future but it is a clear shun for any developer that doesn't want to play in their sandbox and take a 30% hit for the privilege.

And in many ways, Adobe Lightroom has more features than Aperture, particularly (useful) editing tools so that you don't always have to go into Photoshop. The DEVELOP mode in Lightroom is rather brilliant.
They really are doing nice things with the customer feedback. The Library portion, if it picks up enough features to truly replace Bridge (the revised name leaves room for optimism), would make this this scary good.

Everything and I mean *everything* is constantly being shared from these developer's builds. Check youtube. It is what it is. There are no killer features in iLion. Certainly nothing like going from Tiger to Leopard.
Don't kid yourself. Lion's list of new features is much longer than Leopard's.
