Have fun using those on a 3.5" or 4" screen.
I'm not saying they WILL do that on iPod, but they'd be more likely to do it than a touch-screen home button.
I don't think the gestures would be that bad anyway. I've been using 10.7 Lion for a week now and some of those 4-finger gestures work perfect on the trackpad which is almost the size of an iPod anyway.

It wasn't too difficult to predict either a Tory majority or minority win as most people vote with the economy. The Bloc/Liberal thrashing was unexpected, especially the Bloc. Perhaps a little more stability on the Quebec question is a good thing. Liberals had a poor platform with a few really good candidates so next time round they need to put some meat on the bones and I'm hoping that this will flush out the old guard Liberals.
For now, it's brown shirts and red arm bands for the next few years. :D (Harper Youth?)

Yes, having been given a monopoly over the IBM compatible PC platform by IBM themselves is quite a measure of how great Microsoft is. :rolleyes:
Their success is based on IBM's failure to realise how important that market would become. They have not built their success off of making good products.
And Microsoft Windows Server ? really ? Is it successful because I have to install 30 of those to run a simple SSO db like AD whereas I can run eDirectory off of 3 Sun boxes and achieve the same results with about 100 times more objects in the directory ?
But this story is about a guy who manages data center, not about Microsoft's rise to power and their illegal moves to remain at the top for years. And their data center seems to have been top notch, since you rarely hear of Windows update not working or Microsoft.com being down, or MSN messenger not responding or Hotmail.com being on the fritz.

Will you consider cars made in the US, but have parent companies, and thus profits, that are overseas? Will you exclude American brands that manufacture outside of the US?
I too will be swapping out my US made foreign car for an "American" car, but anymore, I'm not sure what that means.
Something made in the US, either a Camaro or a Challenger. I'm waiting to see if there is a glimmer of hope that Dodge makes a convertible Challenger next year.

I have the Push working for Facebook but I cant hear anything... The notifications just come up... How do I set the sound?

Although I still get NO notifications no matter what, so I can't guarantee that'll work :(

I don't think anyone doubts the machine can do the expose effect (the iPad 1 does it in Safari just fine).
There are plenty of reasons it might have been turned down for their final switcher implementation. One, the final iOS allows a variable number of programs to remain open depending on their memory requirements. The expose implementation implies that 9 can be open. That's inconsistent UI. Two, as others have mentioned, you can't always tell the difference between apps at a glance from little screenshots. So they went with icons in the end.
It can be scrollable. And can't icons just be overlaid in the corner a'la Lion Mission Control?

I think you're misinterpreting my language - I mean "for the user that knows even the most basic amount about technology" the user experience is superior in my estimation.
Not the interpretation you seem to be reading into it that reads more like "anyone who doesn't agree with me is an idiot".
How does knowing something about tech make it a superior device? Are you basing it on something like a feature list? It is a highly inferior device because it is an inferior means of accomplishing the vast majority of tablet-related tasks as compared to the iPad. I'm not knocking Android by any means�it will continue to evolve and tablet offerings will improve�but in the tablet world it trails a considerable distance behind iOS and that is what matters most.

Apple should license it for *free*.
They pretty much will. They do it w/ Airplay audio. $4 is only to cover extra cost of overhead needed to provide it to OEM's. No profit being made.

Well, it is pretty not functional in this early release.
There is a new app called "Server" which seems to be similar to the current "Server Preferences." I always find Server Preferences to be a joke.
Server Admin is still their, but all the Services that "Server" covers are not in Server Admin. Thankfully NetBoot and SUS are still in place as is DNS. What they may be doing is using "Server" for the consumer. And keeping more advanced features like DNS, OD, etc in Server Admin.
Notably missing from File Sharing is NFS and their are no advanced file sharing options in Server Admin.
All in all, I am pretty disappointed. I would much prefer the "Server Preferences" and "Server Admin" arrangement that is currently in SL Server. I definitely would not say this is fulling featured. At this time it is a giant downgrade

I agree with the crop. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it or do it before. I remember feeling the same way but then ignoring myself. :)
This is a "quick and dirty" crop using the crop tools in flickr. I would like more room on the right for the table. This is cropped to the edge of the empty chair, so to do a bit more room I'll have to erase the part of the chair that shows. I may try that when I have more time.

That's better but give it a try even tighter. Bring the right edge up past the tray. That might make the toys jump out a little more. Same thing if you bring the bottom edge up closer to his elbow. You may have some room to bring the top and right in a little tighter to match the bottom and left crop.

Apple retail store statistics imply that around 50% of folks purchasing a Mac are new to Mac. ...so new blood appears to be joining the platform.
I would think that a large portion would be new Mac Users. If it was people upgrading you will see a noticeable drop in market share right after apple announced the switch to intel. (With everyone waiting for the intel chips) but any drop from that anouncement didn't seem to effect much. So I would assume that it is from new people. Because now the PC vs. Mac arguments are getting really picky.
Old Arguments.
Intel Chips vs. Power PC chips in speed: Argument resolved Apple is now all Intel.
One Mouse button: Argument resolved with OS X supporting 2 button mice, Mighty Mouse alling right and left mouse clicks, Macbook Pros two finger click to emulate right mouse click.
Price: Mostly resolved. Now with the ability to judge the systems spec to spec it is easier to show that Macs are competive in price with their PC Counterparts.
New Arguments.
Video: Slow /underclocked video cards. And not the greatest resolution for laptop displays.
Keyboard size: The keyboards are slightly smaller then PC keyboards.
Choices: Most apples are not as configurable as PC. You cant have a barebone el Cheapo system. Or something that is slightly better then a MacMini but not quite a iMac.
But these new arguments are much more minor. So it should increase new sales for people waiting for the arguments to be resolved. Also by the fact that boot camp allows windows to run. It allows them to have a comfort catch if they really hate OS X they can always run windows like they did before.

I can personally attest to being somebody who just switched to a mac. I've always wanted to own a Mac but didn't want to chance abandoning Windows completely. I'm a gamer and there's a few other apps that just don't exist for Apple that I use. Now I've got a Mac Pro dual booting OSX and XP Pro 64-bit.
It's much easier to justify the switch when you know you can always switch back if you just don't like it.

I purchased the App to compare it to Navigon and TomTom. While the app is fairly new, you would have to wonder how much testing they did before submitting it to app store.
I would say the app has some potential but needs a lot of work. No need to name all the issues since they are obviously already mentioned in the thread.
As of now, my trust with an Iphone GPS App would have to go to TomTom. ;)
