Running this on my Macbook Alu 2.4Ghz with Nvidia 9400M hooked up to my 46 1080P Sony. The game runs perfectly normal on full 1080P on low settings. I feel I can even push some medium settings on it. My machine gets really hot and the fans are in high gear even when it is not pushing a 1080p second display.

How worried about heat should I be over extended periods of time?

I'll say it again. You are incorrect.
robbieduncan is right-on with his explanation, you're making incorrect claims: focal lengths are independent of the size of the sensor, a 50 mm lens will be a 50 mm lens on a medium format body, a full frame analog body or an APS-C-sized dslr. What changes is the field of view, which is an angle. It is this angle which is different on the above-mentioned cameras. The reason why people write something to the effect `a 50 mm lens on a crop body is equivalent to 75~80 mm lens on a full frame body' is that we've gotten used to associating focal lengths on 35 mm bodies to FOVs. Sort of like Americans got used to measuring distances in miles rather than kilometers.

They have every right to sue if Apple violated their patent. They invented the technology and decided to protect it, period.

If Apple indeed violated the patent that is true, if the patent itself is valid under the law.

You'd be royally pissed if Microsoft came out with the mPhone which looked and felt exactly like an iPhone...parents exist for a very good reason.

    1. When was the last time that Kodak came out with anything remotely similar to an Apple product?

The fact that kodak is a dying company is neither here nor there and has no place in this thread.

This is where you are absolutely wrong. The fact that Kodak is a dying company plays a big part in this because it looks like they are trying to drum up income by enforcing questionable patents. Further it leaves people with the thought that Kodak has given up on being a positive innovator and a company that contributes to both the local and the national economies. Frankly I have a serious question in my mind if Kodak could do anything remotely positive with the money if they did win.

Whoa, wait, where do you find a hot neurosurgeon??? I'd miss less appointments with one of those...

best of luck iGary... You should be able to take a cab, as long as you take a few minutes to recover afterwards. Usually, the worst of the mental grogginess (where you're saying weird/naughty stuff, and are likely to get confused by a cabbie) is accompanied by jelly legs, so you won't be able to wander away, at least until you've sobered up some...

Imagine President Trump feuding with global enemies. Ive met Kim Jong Il. Guys a midget. Who cares what a midget thinks! I take dumps bigger than that guy.

Just bought a 32GB model. Best part - it came with iOS 3.2.2. Time to jailbreak!

Just got mine fired up! Love it!

Why would one jailbreak? What is the benefit? Just curious as I haven't updated yet. Thanks!

I'm off to browse from the couch :)

Considering that this is in Beta and probably will be for a year, I don't think their risking losing sales to PPC people since its not for sale right now....by that time, a lot more people will be running Intel Macs. Perfect time to sell a nice polished product.

I wonder why the 2 plans have to be mutually exclusive. Why not download the whole database when you get it, for when you might not get coverage. And then automatically update when you do have coverage. When going somewhere, give priority updating to the current route and then download everything else. Maybe allow current route to be updated with EDGE/3G while whole database updates require Wi-Fi. Just my 2

The problem with this plan is that they're specifically bragging about stuff like construction updates, points of intrest, and traffic alerts.

In other words, you'll have a system that's constantly downloading stuff AND taking up 3 GB on your phone. I'd be happier to pick one or the other and not have to have the worst of both plans.

Your idea could work for another GPS app that's not built to highlight those kind of things, but that doesn't seem to be the app that Garmin wanted to make.

My guess is that the maps download to your phone and are not constantly being pulled in, so a mapped-out drive from one city to another that passes through a dead zone isn't going to result in an area with no maps. But that one small issue of getting stuck in a no-coverage area and desperately needing it is worrisome.

That's something I'd like them to clarify, actually.

Is it like Google maps and just downlaods "where you are" or is it downloding your whole state and the surrounding states? Or, like "North-East" or something like that?

The difference between those 2 systems could actually mean a lot for some of you folks, it seems.

The thread here is funny. So many off topic rambles.

But... this seems like a great thing! Fast I/O between the iOS device and the Mac. It will make for amazingly fast throughput and it standardizes on one port. Yes, another change, but in the long run, it should be awesome. Let's hope this happens.

Actually there is an option to turn the indicator light on, in System Prefs. I think quitting, closing and opening apps is perfect the way it is.

... to apease old school folks like yourself. It's off by default. OSX has always been about not having to think about managing the OS and focusing on being productive, creative and enjoying the purpose of the computer. Letting the OS manage system resources is the next logical step.

Apps don't need to be running if they're not being used. If the OS saves all work and opening an app is nearly instantaneous, then there is no difference between a running app or a closed app running some services in the background.

Nonetheless, the ability to turn the lights back on is a temporary transitional ability. It will no doubt be gone in the OS after Lion and only few people clinging to the past will look to turn them on.
