Can someone confirm if finger printing required for both paper (by mail) and on-line AP application? Somewhere I read that finger printing is required only for on-line applicants. Is that true?
It will save me lot of trouble as my nearest INS office for finger printing is about 150 miles away.

Paper filed EAD (two times) and AP (one time). Didn't get FP notice. Got approval smoothly.

Getting help thro' your congressman/woman (House rep. or senator) is the best way forward for you.
Each USCIS service center has a dedicated cell handling congressional inquiries on cases. Since your case is well beyond processing times and clearly out of bounds, they do escalate matters thro' the congressional cell at NSC/TSC.
Doing this should be your first order of business.

No Proof will work, if you receive packet after 17th Aug. So hope for best or will file on oct again :)

Call me superstitious but just wanted to kick off this thread again in the hope that this miracle will repeat this year. I have a gut feeling 2011 will bring that magic moments again.
Probably, your wish is granted (even if it is just for few hours while they correct the error :p). Why I say this? Look at visa bulletin on Mumbai Consulate's website, here's the link:

By the way, if it has changed (and does not have good news when you see it), it is currently showing 'current' for EB2.

What about those whose PD is 2006 or later and DID file I-485?!?

EB2-India has been retrogressed throughout 2006. If your PD is 2006, how did you file your I-485? Are you counting July 2007 filing? Dont count that, see the first post

I guess USCIS will go by the degree first and then look if the field is related. The lawyers in this country are pretty good in converting anything to a high skills job and justify the labor shortage. For a starter an US MS qualified guy can be sponsored for an H1B for optimizing the fuel stocks (read gas station attendant).

I had filed my I-485 in Jun 2007 my PD is Nov 2005 and was called for an interview at the local USCIS office in Feb 2009. My I-485 was pre-approved, now I am about to apply for AP renewal.
The question I have is which service center do I mail in my AP renewal docs? My original application was filed in Nebraska. So do I file it there or send it to service center in Missouri? Can any one who has similar experience post the answer to this?

One more additional question on this, say we open a trading account now and we buy shares in 2008 , but do not sell it yet (meaning no income was made in 2008), then will there be any impact or any additional filing to be made for 2008 tax returns, or how does stock trading relate to tax returns...
Until you sell then there is no gain nor loss. If u sell and loose, then you report the loss in your tax return...if you gain you report the gain and you are taxed accordingly.

Another consulting company may very well hold your H1B, but you will have to be working through them. You cannot sit on bench and they "hold" your visa. I will suggest transferring your visa ASAP to another company.
You can very well go to H4 and again go to H1B under new quota, but why take the risk? If you are not selected in lottery, you again have to wait until next year.
Get your H1 transferred and find a job agressively.

Hi,
I got laid off in dec-08, my H1B visa got extended till 2011, but stamp in passport was expired sept-30th. I got my W2 good for last year and have got pay stubs till dec month. Now i am in need of visiting India, I have to get my stamp renewed in India.
As I am on job at present, I can not produce any client letter at consulate in case if they ask.
Will there be any issues which I may come across, please help me if you have any experiences.

It is considered fraud if you go for H1B stamping and you don't have a job. If the consulate gets to know that you don't have your job anymore and you were aware of that fact when you applied for the H1B visa, you could permanently be barred from entering the US.
I would advice against such a move. Try to get a new job and transfer your H1B and then go to India for visa stamping.

CIR is impossible with the current Congress, any legislator thinking it is a possibility is only misleading!
"That" legislator also knows it is impossible. He/she is doing it for a poltical stunt so that he/she can go say I did try from my side.
My belief is that this time around they will try a Dream Act - SKIL Bill combo meal to get some votes in Senate/House

Well, last week was a short business week prior to new year. If you had you interview on 30th, then just one more business day prior to the new year and I doubt they did a lot on 31th and are back to work this week. Might be dealyed due to administration process. You might get in couple days.

Have you noticed that it noticably degrades the image quality? Your little birds look pretty good, and I got a squirrel I was happy with, but these geese were not quite as sharp as I would have liked.
Also, do you have any tips for dealing with the short focal range? Did you use binds or something for the little birds?

I was told that "amending" H1B is the same as applying for a new H1B. Does this mean that I will get a new 797 approval and I would have to get a new stamping on my passport? I just got my passport stamped with a 3 year extension till 2009. I don't want to go thru that again if I can avoid it.
