I used Fedex Ground , just a tad more expensive than USPS Priority ( if you add all delivery confirmation etc etc ).

ssd213 has pointed you in the right direction. However this is not so simple as taxes depend on a host of other factors that have not been mentioned.
To put it in one line, you will pay taxes in India after your RNOR period only on the accruals of the 401K funds. You cannot be taxed twice.

Why did you use a sub labor? Is it the same employer you are working with now? Is the employer blacklisted? This answer may throw some light on your denial.

I got the paperwork from my attorney for my wife's 485 as they want us to be ready so that if dates are current, we just mail the paperwork without having to start at that time.
However, my wife is pregnant and i am not sure if medical examinations are possible. What are my options ?
Complete medicals without the vaccines, etc which cannot be taken during pregnancy. The Civil surgeon shoould make a note on the medical report that the applicant is pregnant and so medical is incomplete.
When your 485 is picked up for processing, an RFE will be issued and then she can complete the rest.

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. Note the last line on the page. It says last updated in Jan 2006.
Funny that the DOL gets 42% marks for Program Results/Accountability and 100% marks on program management and 80% on Program Purpose & Design.

Ok , just got off the phone with my lawyer.He says we can not file a I485 because the priority date is not current. EB3 is showing 01OCT01 and we can only file that form the bulletin is showing April2002. He says we are not eligible for that...

You've never mentioned your country of citizenship but as of July 2006, the PD is not current for any one. Check out the bulletin at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1770.html
Click on July 2006 and scroll all the way to the section of "Employment Based" Table. The first column (employment based) of this table lists categories. Yours, EB3, is 3rd. Now, depending on your country of citizenship you can check the available PD. Department of State updates this web page every month but because of current retrogression problem there is not a lot of movement for EB3 PD's.
You have other options like changing your employer and porting your PD to the new employer. Search in the forums for "Porting Priority Date" for more information. You should talk to your lawyer about this possibility.

Is she safe even my visa (H1B) expired on 4th Sept.
If I apply F1 (Student Visa) now...it will take another 45 days to get F1 approval from INS.
So....what happens to her status? Is she valid to stay until she gets F1 approval notice?

I'm just curious as there has been approvals contrary to the bulletins in the years before. Please don't flame me as i'm just looking for any signs of hope around the corner for the EB3 folks.

Hello guys,
I e-filed my EAD renewal in July 3rd, did my FP in August 1 and I still don't have my card.
I opened a Service Request last week since it's been way beyond the "regulatory" 90 days and I got a letter yesterday basically saying that "even though my case is serious, I didn't provide them with an extreme reason to expedite the issuing of the card". Then on a separate line they have: "pending security clearance".
What in the world is an "extreme" reason to get my EAD renewed?? And why is it pending a security clearance if It's already been more than 120 days and it's a "renewal" -not a new card!!
My original EAD expired in 8/10 (I never used it) and my H1B will expire in 1/21/2009.
Anyone got the same thing? What can I do here?

Its mystery. My friend visited one Canadian consulate for VISA interview. He sent his I-171 and DS160 to them in email to get PIMS done before his interview date and they said that they received the documents and noted info & can come for interview. He though PIMS check is done and he can go peacefully for interview.
But today they gave some document saying they need to verify PIMS, so the conclusion is always better to go home country sothat we can have nice time with relatives atleast.

Have anyone heard any updates from AILA about this issue? if one knows this for sure, atleast in these days, people can start working a second (may be non-technical) job on EAD...that way you should be able to save some money for the rainy days...

I was watching an interview with John McCain on larry king live 2 or 3 days ago. Mccain said that an immigration bill would be introduced in the senate in a week or two which would focus on border security first, i am not sure what that means, focusiing on border security first, good or bad for us? would that mean our provisions will be moved to a later stage where border security is ratified first before anything can happen etc etc which is what anti-immigrants want.
